Dear Google Hiring Team,

Hi there! I’m Rafaela Wanderley – a senior at Babson College who is passionate about strategy, problem solving, creativity and creating impact that matters.

Why Google?

I’ve always been passionate about creating impact that matters. From founding a startup in high school that democratized Brazilian independent art and presenting it at Google’s São Paulo office to leading important panels at the Brazil Conference at Harvard and MIT with over 900 attendees from Brazil’s most important sectors, I learnt something about myself: I’ve consistently gravitated toward initiatives with purpose. My passion has always been about empowering communities, solving real problems and creating value to others. My dream job is to bring all these elements together and impact people across the globe through my work, and that's exactly why I want to work at Google. I am deeply drawn to the mission of solving the world’s problems both from the mundane to the monumental.

Why APMM at Google?

My passion for creating and promoting value perfectly aligns with the Associate Product Marketing Manager (APMM) position. As an APMM, I would have the unique opportunity to combine strategic thinking with creative execution, empowering communities through impactful products and services. Google's approach to innovation and its global reach provide the ideal platform for me to help shape products that solve meaningful problems, connect people, and drive real value. This role offers the perfect blend of purpose-driven work and the chance to amplify impact at scale—aligning with my aspirations and experiences.

My background

  • I worked at VTEX, the largest e-commerce software company in LATAM, as a summer intern in New York's office directly with the CEO to solve one of his biggest challenges: identifying and mapping the main pain points of corporate clients.

Over the summer, I connected with them, led interviews and had the autonomy to set the scope of the points needed to be analyzed. After gathering their insights and understanding the data, I pitched a best-practice proposal to improve the user experience and drive growth to VTEX’s CEO. This hands-on role sharpened my skills in strategic thinking and product-focused problem-solving, giving me real world experience in developing innovative solutions within the digital products space.

  • During my last summer, I worked at AB InBev, leading a project to develop a predictive model for SKU availability across more than 1 million points of sale and using Python to improve forecast accuracy and sales recommendations. I also designed sales targets for the launch of Corona Cero across Brazil and built a tracking tool on Databricks to monitor sales data for the company’s entire portfolio. These experiences required me to think critically, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and strengthen my technical acumen—skills I’m confident will be valuable as an APMM at Google.

  • Beyond my internships, my entrepreneurial mindset was put to the test in Babson’s Ultimate Entrepreneurship Challenge, the number 1 class at the number 1 school for entrepreneurship, taught by serial entrepreneur Len Green. As the CEO of my team, I led weekly analyses of real-world business cases and creatively presented our solutions directly to the business leaders who joined us in class. At the end of a competitive semester, my team earned first place. This experience taught me that success often depends less on prior knowledge and more on grit, effort, and determination.

So… Why me?

It’s simple: I am willing to do to whatever it takes.

I have energy, creativity, and an unrelenting drive to learn, adapt, and deliver results. Whether it’s solving a complex problem, leading a team, or going above and beyond what’s asked, I am ready and excited to rise to the challenge.
